The job of the youth of this country is to protect what is ours and hold on to what is dearest to us. Not only are we to elect credible progressives in office, but also fight for ideals we believe in to better our society. This is exactly what I attempt to do, alongside the NCATD and my local organization of the Stanly County Teen Democrats. Protesting on the grounds of a company who dumps deadly chemicals into a heavily populated lake; petitioning for Medical Marijuana to be legalized in North Carlina; peacefully counter-protesting the Tea Party rallies, as well as Westboro Baptist Church rants against homosexuals and other minorities allows me to voice my opinion loudly and clearly, letting the generation before me know that the youth do not stand for their injustice. As far as politics go, I have worked with many campaigns- from town council to President of the USA. In 2008, I supported Hillary Clinton, and was a district director for her campaign. After she lost, I was heartbroken, but lent my full support to Senator Obama. At the same time, I was a huge supporter of Jim Neal's campaign for Senate. I was also the campaign manager for the Earl Mahone for Mayor campaign in Norwood. More recently, I worked with Cal Cunningham's campaign and David Morgan for Mayor in Albemarle. I am currently the VP of Membership and Expansion of the NCATD, the sitting 3rd Vice Chair of the Stanly County Democratic Party, and the Chair of the Stanly County Teen Democrats.

Arjun Ghandi of Forsythe County

Arjun Gandhi was elected NCATD 3rd Vice President of Fundraising in the spring of 2011. He also serves as the co-president of Mt Tabor High School’s Young Democrats, which he, alongside his co-president, revived after years of inactivity. He decided to run for the Vice President position of Teen Democrats after he realized that he needed to play a bigger role in the great things that the group was accomplishing. Arjun has several innovative ideas to raise capital for NCATD and the Democratic Party. He worked extensively to promote Billy Kennedy’s campaign for representative in Congress. Besides Young Democrats, Arjun is also very involved in Youth and Government, where he even ran for a state position. He has played high school lacrosse for the past two years. In his spare time, Arjun also enjoys performing community service, working at WFUBMC hospital, actively participating in countless school clubs, playing the guitar, playing “lax”, and simply being among good company. Arjun is currently a junior at Mt. Tabor High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Blaike Bibbs of Chatham County

 Blaike Bibbs was elected as the NCATD First Vice President of Publicity in the Spring of 2011.  Blaike founded the Chatham County and Chapel Hill Teen Democrats and currently serves as the club president.  Blaike has a true desire to educate members and citizens on the importance of voting, register and preregister new voters and encourage voters to cast their ballot at the poll.  She believes involvement should always include fun and developing new friendships.

I have been a Member of The North Carolina Association Of teen Democrats for Three years. I was elected Treasurer of NCATD in the spring of 2011 at the NC young Democrats convention in Winston-Salem, NC. I served as secretary my freshman and sophomore for Jesse. O. Sanderson High School teen democrats in Raleigh NC. I am Currently Co-President of the Sanderson Teen Democrats. I am a member of The National Academy of Finance at Sanderson High School in Raleigh NC; I am currently on the recruiting committee for the Academy Of Finance. I am also a member of The Speech and Debate team at Sanderson High School.  As a member of the NCATD. I have attended several State Executive Council Meetings and voting’s, as well as conference calls networking and help plan events, ideals etc. For NCATD. I was on the campaign committee for school board candidate Karen Simon in the 2009 School Board elections.  I have attended several forms advocating for diversity in our school system.  My interest In the Political Process will keep me heavily involved in my community.
